Public Lecture: Finding the Good News on Energy and Environment |
Educational Lectures |
Event Description: |
Prof. Richard Alley, Penn State University will deliver the McDonnell Distinguished Lecture. Abstract: We enjoy the benefits derived from energy usage, now generated mostly by burning fossil fuels, but the resulting pollution threatens to cause highly damaging climate changes. There is very strong evidence showing that if we use our knowledge wisely, we can find ways to build a larger economy, as well as a cleaner environment, with more jobs, improved health, and greater national security, which would be more consistent with the Golden Rule. Today’s students are part of the first generation in human history who know that they can build a sustainable energy system, providing the good life we enjoy here to everyone everywhere. |
